Sub-Topic 1: The Work of the Holy Spirit in Salvation and Sanctification
Dr Tan Seng Kong
Lecturer, Biblical Graduate School of Theology

Many people think of God’s anointing simply as the Spirit giving us power to serve. In Dr Tan’s paper, he turns to Jonathan Edwards to show how this idea is much richer. Edwards reminds us that God’s anointing for us is grounded first in Christ’s own anointing—rooted in His redeeming work and, even deeper, in the life of the Trinity itself. This perspective not only shapes how we understand our ministry and good works but also calls us to live the Christian life as a sharing in Christ’s Spirit-anointed life, ministry, and communion with His Father.

Sub-Topic 2: The Gifts and Empowerment of the Holy Spirit
Rev Dr Dennis Lum
President, TCA College

Spiritual gifts are gracious endowments of the Holy Spirit that are entrusted to every believer to build up the church and to fulfill God’s mission in the world. The Apostle Paul underscores their importance and relevance when he exhorts us to “follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit…” (1 Cor 14:1). This session will examine the nature of spiritual gifts, their purpose in cultivating a vibrant faith community, and their practical expression in the ministry of the church today.

Sub-Topic 3: The Presence of the Holy Spirit in Worship and Prayer
Rev David Lim
President Designate, ACTS College

The Church is called to be a worshipping and praying community, but these activities are not meant to be mere   human efforts seeking to please God. In fact, true worship and true prayer are both impossible without God’s own involvement. It is in this context that we find the Presence of the Holy Spirit actively at work, meeting us where we are and enabling us to connect intimately to the Father through the Son.

Sub-Topic 4: The Holy Spirit and Christian Engagement in Society
Rev Dr Lewis Winkler
Lecturer, East Asia School of Theology

Dr Winkler hopes to address three basic areas of how the Holy Spirit pertains to Christian engagement with society:
1) How the Spirit empowers and equips Christians to be effective and bold witnesses within society primarily through evangelism
2) How the Spirit guides and empowers Christians to be salt and light in society through social action and concern in terms of demonstrating compassion, advocating for true justice, and encouraging peacemaking between various members of society from a distinctly Christian perspective, and
3) How the Holy Spirit guides Christians to engage with religious others in society in constructive and cooperative ways to create a more harmonious and stable society.
